What Makes Argan Oil Special?

The antioxidant properties of Argan oil are attributed mainly to its high content of tocopherols (vitamin E) and carotenes. Indeed, the level of tocopherols is at least four times higher in Argan oil than in olive oil.  Argan oil is also rich in schottenol and spinasterol, two compounds known for their anti-cancer properties.

The History of Argan

Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the tree Argania Spinosa L., which is native to Morocco. It grows wild at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, along Morocco's Atlantic coast. The tree can live up to 200 years and is very resistant to drought and heat. Argan oil remains one of the rarest oils in the world and it is under the protection of the UNESCO. 

                                     

For centuries, natives have used Argan oil for skin care and as a part of their nutritious diet. Extracting Argan oil is a very labor intensive process, as each of the nuts must be individually shelled before they can be crushed to press the oil. On average, from 100 kg of dried fruit, 6.5 kg of kernels are collected to produce 1 liter of Argan oil. 

Argan oil is considered a precious commodity for Moroccans as well, and it is difficult to find high quality Argan oil outside of the southwestern region of Morocco, where it's produced. 

Harvesting Argan kernels and producing Argan oil provides support for some 3 million people.  The Argan trees also help prevent desertification, as their roots prevent soil erosion. Over the last century, Morocco lost nearly half of its Argan tree forests due to exploitation of its wood, and to clear land for agricultural use. However, because of the recent popularity of Argan oil worldwide, the tree is being preserved by ongoing efforts to halt deforestation and projects to plant more Argan trees in the region.

 

Our Connection with The Community?

After seeing much of the Argan oil being exploited by foreign companies, our supplier worked with public officials to help organize the women who harvested the Argan nuts from which the oil is produced. Today, women's cooperatives are spread out across the southwestern region of Morocco.

Argan oil has given these women financial security and opportunities they have not had before.  They are able to contribute to their household income and are now able to help their children pursue higher education. The cooperatives oftentimes provide onsite schooling to help the women become literate.  Given the success of the Argan cooperatives, other groups have been inspired to produce textiles and homemade culinary products under the same structure.

In addition, there has been a direct impact on the natural environment around these communities. The prosperity that has come with Argan oil production has created more awareness about preserving the Argan trees through national and international initiatives.

You might not know it, but unlike BIO Collection Argan oil, many Argan-based products available in the cosmetic industry are diluted with cheaper oils or other additives. This is true even when the oil is claimed to be pure. 

Our supplier provides us with Moroccan Argan oil that is 100% pure and certified organic. We cold press the Argan kernels from the latest harvest so that we can provide you with the freshest oil. We have selected quality glass bottles in order to best preserve Argan oil’s remarkable antioxidant properties.

Is Argan Oil Safe To Use?
Berber women in Morocco have been using Argan oil for centuries as a part of their beauty routine. Our Moroccan Argan oil is cosmetic grade, 100% pure and has no additives. 

Can Argan Oil Replace A Face Cream?
Yes! We recommend using it alone, preferably at night. 


Can I Use Argan Oil With Vitamin C
Absolutely. Vitamin C and Argan oil work well together. You can apply Vitamin C first and then Argan oil to lock all of the goodness into your skin.

Is It Organic? 
Our oil is made from nuts harvested from wild trees on the hills of southwestern Morocco. Our supplier is certified organic, both Ecocert (Europe) and USDA.

Are There Additional Ingredients? 
No. BIO Collection's Argan oil is free of alcohol, artificial fragrances, colorants, silicone, parabens, and synthetic chemicals.

 
Is It Tested On Animals? 
Our oil is never tested on animals. 


How Long Is It Good For?
We bottle the freshest oil from the most recent harvest to provide you with Moroccan Argan oil of the highest quality. Well preserved Argan oil is typically good for 18-24 months. We recommend that you store your oil away from heat or direct sunlight to preserve quality.

Can I Change Or Cancel My Order?
Orders submitted on our website process and ship very quickly. Regrettably, we may not be able to cancel or modify orders. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. To receive a refund on your purchase, please see the "Return a Product" policy below.

Shipping Time
You should expect delivery of your package in approximately 2-5 business days. Processing time usually takes 1 business day.
Tracking is available when the package reaches the carrier's sorting facility. It may take 1 business day from when you receive your tracking number to be able to trace your package. 

Standard Shipping to Canada takes 5-10 business days.
Delivery time to other international destinations will vary.

Having Difficulties Placing an Order Online

I Have Not Received An Order Confirmation
You may not have received an order confirmation for various reasons. The most common reasons are:

- If you have set spam filters too high, our emails may be deleted once they are received. Please check your spam box.
- You may have entered an incorrect email address. 
- Your order may not have been successfully submitted.

Why Are There Multiple Charges On My Credit Card?
When you submit an order, your credit card company may place an authorization hold for the amount of the order. An authorization hold is not a charge and may appear to be an amount slightly higher than the order total. An authorization hold simply guarantees your credit card company that funds will be available when the order is billed.

Should you encounter a problem when placing an order, several authorizations may appear on your statement. These will be deleted by the credit card company automatically, usually within 7-10 business days.

Can this Product be Shipped Outside Of The United States?
We can ship BIO Collection products to each of the locations listed below. The list will be updated periodically to reflect any possible changes.

Return a Product
If you wish to return any items purchased from www.biocollection.com, such items must be returned to BIO COLLECTION within 30 days of purchase. To initiate a return, simply send an email to returns@biocollection.com including your invoice and reason for return. All authorized returns must be sent by prepaid shipping to the address listed under "Contact" on our website.
